Miss Mary Geddes, the girls' depart raent secretary of the Y.W.C.A. for Australasia, who is at , present in Dun-. edin,. will arrive in Wellington next Wednesday. Sho will be here for ten days, and during that time plans will be made for her to see as many of the Y.W.C.A. members and friends as possible. The object of her visit is to strengthen the work amongst the adolescent girls.' ; There will be a motor-lorry picnic for members of the. Y.W.C.A. at Maori Bank on Easter Monday. Members • who have not secured their seats in the lorrv may leave by one of the trains to Upper, Hutt and join tho picnickers at Maori Bank. Miss-Elsie Griffin, M.A., general secretary.''of the Auokland Y.W.0.A., will give an address at the Y.W.C.A. to-morrow afternoon at 4.15. Miss Griffin has como to Wellington as a delegate. to the conference of tho National Council] of Women, which is to be held early in the week. She has recently returned from America, where she was a student in the Y.W.C.A. New York Training School. Soldiers .will he welcome to join the Y.W.C.A. girls in their games and to. enjoy the music to-night at 8 o'clock. In relating the splendid • war service of New'- Zealand ladies' at Home; the. Rev. H. 'N. Roberts, a returned chaplain, informed his .audience' at Woolston that on one occasion he camo upon a huge motor-car, with a pair of little legs sticking out from it. The wedding took place at Holy Trinity Church, Suva, on March 5 of Jlr. Henry A. B. Bentley, of .the Customs Department, Fiji, to Miss Jessie Rleanor Wnldron, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wiildrou, of Auckland. The ceremony was performed by tho Bishop of Polynesia. The future' home of tho brido and bridegroom will be in Suva. The wedding took place in St. Mark's Church, Remuera, on Wednesday, of Miss Enid Reed,, younger daughter of Mr. J. Rankin Rood, K.C., and Mrs. Reed, Remuera Road, to Captain Georgo Nicol, M.C., Royal Field- Artillery, son of Mr. George Nicol, of Arney Road, Auckland. Tho Rev. W. Beatty porformed the ceremony. Captain J. Hellaby was best man, and Miss Mavis Nicol bridesmaid. The bridegroom has but recently returned to New Zealand from the front, and leaves again shortly on.active service. Miss G. Gorrie and Miss Upton (Auckland) are visiting Mount Cook. ~. Dr. and Mrs. J. Edgar (Napier) are visiting Christchurch. Mrs. G. F. Wilson, of Kelhurn, has left on an extended visit to relations in Australia. Mr. and Mrs. C. 8. Bisdee (Pahiatua) haje come to Wellincto'n for the Easter, and are staying with Mrs. Bisdee's parents aj, Seatoun, the Rev. T. Porritt and Mrs. Porritt. A meeting of parents attending the Berhampore Kindergarten School was held in the Berhampore State School, for tho purpose of forming a committee for the above branch. Mr. Fred Shand was in the chair. The aims and purposes of the kindergarten _ work were made known to the meeting by Miss Riley, Mrs. . Gill, Miss England, Miss Helyer, Miss Seaton, and Mrs. Anderson, members of the Executive Council. The following committee was appointed: Mrs. Morrell, Mrs. Hosie, Mrs. Pritchard, Mrs. Warwick, Messrs. Keys, P. Wilcox, Thomson, Fred.| Sharid, Leethara, Reid, Smart, and B. Warwick. Mr. Thomson was elected chairman, Mr. Fred Shand secretary, and Mr. G. W. .Keys treasurer. Citizens of Wellington who have the good of the little ones at heart will be interested to know that the Free Kindergarten Council has arranged to have the second annual produce sale at St. Andrew's Church Hall, on Wellington Terrace. Thero on Wednesday, April 10, will be found.fresh country produce, jams, cakes, .etc., also a stall of fancy goods with a good supply of children's knitted clothes and other dresses. Gifts of all kinds will be welcome, and may he sent to Mrs. Gill, 71 Ellico Street; Miss England, 125 Molesworth Street; or Miss Seaton, 159 Molosworth Street. Tho death took place at Te Awamutu on Sunday of Mrs. F. A. Lucas, relict of the late Mr. G. Lucas, of Pohangina. The deceased lady resided in the Manawatu for many years, and about 27 years ago Temoved from Awahuri with her husband to • Pohangina, being amongst the first settlers to acquire land in- that township, Mr. Lucas becoming eventually the first chairman of tho, Pohangina Comity Council. The late Mrs. Lucas was a fine sample of thoso .early settlers who havo done so much for the present'.prosperous;' condition of the. country. Large-hearted and-generous, she was held, in .high respect by innumerable friends, who will regret her death as a personal loss. A family of thirteen survive, Mr. W. Lucas, of Raumai, and Mrs. S. Roberts, of Piripiri, being among tho number. The Mayor of Raetihi'B relief fund will- be increased to tho extent of £36 13s. sd. as the result of a social evening held at Moore Bros.'s Hall, Johnsonville, on Thursday evening.- Tho Rev. Mr. Rowo was in charge of an excellent programme, and in-nis opening remarks said donations • to the fund were greatly appreciated. He thanked those who had contributed goods, and extended thanks also to those contributing to the programme and Moore Bros, for ,the free use of tho hall. The Johnsonville Brass Band played several selections of music during the evening, and were heartily thanked after the concert part of the programme. Light refreshments were supplied, and dancing brought a very pleasant evening to a close. The organisers of the evening were the Johnsonville Co-operative Society, Mr. George Durnett acting as secretary. 'Afternoon tea will be provided to-day/ and on Easter Monday at.. Wilton's" Homestead, Wadestown, by the water wheel, by Marjorie and Ethel Curtis.. aged 10 and 5 years, in aid of wounded soldiers. The Camp Commandant at Trentham acknowledges receipt of a gift of one case of cakes from the Women'.s Pat■riotic Committee,. New Plymouth, which have been distributed in camp.
