Mr. John M'Eklowney, who has had charge of the Y.M.C.A." relief party at Knetiiii,. has arrived in Wellington to cllect necessary purchases on behalf of the Wiiinuirino Relief Committee. He states that everyone at llaotihi is delighted .it the splendid and prompt response of the various organisations, private individuals, and tho Government to the call for relief. Seven truck loads of goods had arrived at Eaelilii when ho left on Tuesday evening, and more were on the way. Up til! then about 100 families, representing about 400 adujts and children, lmd. been given relief in tho way of clothing—a really good and useful collection for men, women, girls, and little ones. It is to supply tho shortage- of loys' clothing and boots of all wzes that Mr. M'Eldowncy is making a flying visit to Wellington. A large number of blankets have also been distributed. A consignment of 200 pairs of double-sized all-wool blankets from tho Government, aid in addition to about LOO pairs from other centres, will meet all requirements.- The Public Works Department has provided about tiO tciits. I'liose are being erected and floored by Salvation Army experts, but will only partially' meet requirements. While- tho duties of the helpers have boon most strenuous, a very plensing feature of the work is the complete unison and harmony that prevails,.
