Messrs, Dalgety and Company, limited, report that at 'their Upper iiutt sale on March 21 they ottered a heavy yarding of both sheep and cattle.. Sheep and young steers changed hamln at auction under keen competition. Cattle: Fat cows, AltO io £12 10s.; 18-mouth steers, £6 to £6 7b. 6d.; poor oonditioued cowb and caires, £3 to £B 7e.; good wuaner Bteers, £3 to £3 103.; Tealers, £2 7s. 6d. to £2 155.; forward store cowe. £8 17s. 6d. to £9 35.; dairy cows, £10 to £10 15s. At Levin, on, Tuesday, Messrs. Dulgety and Company, Limited, offered a medium yarding of both sheep end cattle. Competition throughout the sale was dull, and a number of lines failed to reach owners' 'reserves. The sales eßected wero as under:—Fat ewes, 265.; cull lambs, ss. to 6a. 9d.; fat and forward iewea, 22a.; 18month steers, £0 10a. to £7; forward 3year steers, £10 195.; well-bred Shornhorn cross 18-month steere, £8 lie.; 3-year steers, medium conditioned, £9 12s. 6d. The New Zoaland Loan and Mercantile Agency (Jo. report:—On Monday at Hiniatangi we had a fair yarding. Bidding was slow, but we succeeded in quitting tho hulk of the yarding at lato rates. Wo quote:—Small lambs, Ba. 6d.; fair lambs, 105.'7 d.; f.m. ewes, Bs., 15s. $d.;-forward ewes, 20b.; weaner steers, £2 175., £3 65.; weancr heifers, 305.; store cows, £4 10s., £5, £6 165., £6 17s. 6d.; forward cows, £8. Messrs. Dalgety and Company, Limited, Palmereton North, report hiring a good entry of sheep and a email yarding of cattle at their Marton sale on Monday. There was very little competition and tho majority of the lines were paeeed. Quotations:—Sheep: Lambs, 15s. to 15s. 2d.; fat and forward ewes, to 235. Cattlo: 2-year-old heifers, £5 12s. Tho New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report having held their annual autumn cattle fair in the Eketahuna yards on Monday, when nearly 10C0 head of cattle were offered. A large attendance of buyers was present from South Wairarapa, Masterton, Woodville, Dannevirke, Poupraroa, Manawatu and tho local district. Eighteen-month steers and 2i-year steere were eagerly sought after, but the older cattle wero not so mucfr in demand. Bidding at auction wan rather dragging and a number of linea wero passed : in, but most of them were sold privately afterwards. We quote: bullocks, £16, £15 10s., £15 2a. 6d.. £14 155., £14; coloured ditto, £10 2a. 6d. to £12 7s. 6d.; 2}-year Hereford steers, £15 to £13 10s.; 2i-year P.A. Bteers, £14 55.; others. £7 to £10 155.; 18-month P.A. 'steers,. £10 10s.; Shorthorn and Hereford ditto, £7 12s. 6d. to £9 155.; othors, £4 to £6 2b. 6d.; fat cows, light. £10 2s. 6d. to £10 17s. 6d.; store cows, £7 to £9 12s. 6d.; wcaners, £2 2s. 6d. to £3 10e.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report:—At Levin on Tuesday we offered a small entry of sheep and a fair yardin? of cattle. The sale dragged, but most lines were quitted:— Medium fat cwee and wethers, 315.; fat mixed eex 2-tooths, 295.. 6d.; b.f.m.e. 2tooths, 255.; rams (potters), 255.; 2-tooth wethers, 25e.; light fat cows, £9 9s. to £10 25.; forward condition cows, £7 10s. to £8 11s.; Btoro cows, £5 Is. to £6 10a.; lipht fat heifers, £7 ss. to £B 18s.: wea.ner steer, £4 55,; mixed sex weaners, 38s. to 395.
