IMPERIAL GOVEBNMENT PAYMENTS. By Telegraph—Press Association.. ' Auckland, .March 21. The Prime Minister (lit. Hon. W. F.-.Massey) "stated in the course of a ■ speech at Bombay to-day that the total payments since March, 1915, when the Government established the Imperial Supplies Department, till ithe middle of the present month, amounted to £57,651,200, and ...another £20,000,000 would be added by tho end of the .year. The items include frozen nie.it, three years, £22,500,000; wool, two years, £22,500,000; cheese, three years, £7,000,000; butter, one year, •£2,000,000. • _ Mr. Massey added that the estimated payments for butter during the present season were £2,689,000, and. probably would be exceeded. Ten years ago ibe export of cheese from New Zealand amounted to' 121,322cwt., valued at '£376;000,. whereas, the quantity exported'last year represented £3.804,000.
