Reliable information was received on 'Monday, says the Frankton correspondent of tho Auckland "Star," that George Caffery, who has escaped for the third time from military detention in Auckland, was seen travelling on the Main Trunk express to Wellington on Wednesday week last. 110 was recognised by several members of a special police party who wore escorting a number of prisoners whoso destination was "Wellington.' Ono of the .party was a schoolmate of Caffery. Tho military police did not attempt to arrest Caffery, as they wcro afraid to leave their prisoners. It is stated, howaver, that the military police know the address of Caffery in Wellington. Caffery, who was arrested in a house in tlobson Street as an absentee from camp as far back as February 2, was the man who bid in the chimney. He lyas rocaptured and placed in one of the forts, but escaped by bending back one of the stout iron bars. He was caught again in tho Albion Hotel. He is again at largo.
