The Wanganui representative got second placo and Whiro was third. The winner is protty smart, jnd will be heard of again. Another favourite in Parisian Diamond turned up in the .Scott Memorial Handicap. Ho was ridden by Gray, and after allowing Astor and Starengo to,lead to tho turn tho top-weight was taken 1o the front aod won easily from Moutoa. Queen and Ohiwia. Heather, KawakoTe, aad Colonnade were the next, to finish. It is now reported that Gray will ride to-day's winner in the fiaater Handicap at Ellerslie. Mattock and Toki were withdrawn from the Hack Hurdles, and the top-weight, Want, was tnade a hot favourite. Dasher Boy and Holyhead led over the first, round, with Calais and tho favourite handy. At the half-mile the latter took charge, and Vacuum went up with hia. The two then cleared out from the lleld, and Want, jumping the last hurdle bet. ter than hie opponent, ran in an easy winner, while 'Vacuum had to be ridden out- to resist a challenge from Paparess, finished third. Dasher Boy and Calais were' next. Polynesian, Engari, and Goldbearing were missing when the numbers wore hoisted for the Carnarvon Hack Hand'cap. The top-weight, Turangapito, was a solid order on the machine. At the barrier he played up a lot and delayed the start. Marenga was' in .front after going a .furlong, and with the favourite and All Over he led into the straight. Here tho favourite took charge, and Self Alliance joined him. Tho latter woro the top-weight down, Lut in turn succumbed to a line finishing run by All Ovef. Marenga was fourth. The winner's performance was a' good one, as he got anything but a good passage. Namur fell, and her rider, G. Clarke, was/badly shaken.

Henry Clay uae withdrawn from, the Kangitikei Cup, for which Nobleman waa made a good favourite. There was a. painful delay at the barrier, and when it roso Midnight Star was badly left. Kiltese at onoe took up the role of pacemaker, and, followed by Nobleman and Gang Awa'. she led out of tho straight. Oello was'the-elect-of- backers in the Parewanui Welter Handicap, l but after a> very close finish the aged Haumakaka beat the Fordell representative by a head. Victoria made the running to the t-hreo furlongs, where Haumaltaka took charge and Oello put in a faet run. The pair had the finish to themeelvos. Ladify was third, and then came Goorgc and Merrie Gain and. Henry Olay. Georgo wag not fortunate in the running, and should do better to-morrow.

'The consistent but unlucky Rajput scored an overdue win in the Ngatiapa Hack Handicap, for' which Staccato .was lavourite. The latter was in front, -with Orawia till a few strides off the poet, whereEa.iput cot up and won by a neck. Warmaid was fourth.
