GERMAN ATTACKS FORESTALLED
PREPARATIONS UPSET AND COMMUNICATIONS SMASHED FRENCH PENETRATE THE ENEMY'S LINES I London, March 18. Renter's correspondent at the French Headquarters states that the centre of activity has now shifted to the Meuse. The big French shells mentioned in yesterday's communiques were directed against sectors whore the enemy hid completed all preparations for an attack. As the result of the raids his SmunSfons are so thoroughly smashed that it will be many weeks before iho enemy can attack from these places.-Router. ENEMY'S LINES AGAIN PENETRATED BY THE FRENCH VIOLENT ARTILLERY DUEL BEING WAGED. London, March 19. A French communique states: "We repulsed the enemy.north of Juvincourt and Muth-east of Corbony, after lively fighting. There is heavy reciprocal artillery fire, f specially in the Samogneux and Bezonvaux districts, and between Bures and Badonviller, in Lorraine." _ A later communique states: "A detachment penetrated the enemy's lines in the Reims region to a depth of 1000 yards, and destroyed numerous ocoupel dug-outs. GERMAN TRENCHES RAIDED BY FRENCH AND AMERICAN FORCES. New York, March 19. Sir DouMas Haig reports:—"We drove off raiders to the north-east of Armentieres ° The enemy artillery is activo at Ypres, Cambnri, Vermelles, La Bassee Canal and Armentieres. AVe dropped nine tons of bombs on billets and dumps on Busigny railway station, and on two aerodromes. Air fightin" is most'intenso between largo formations.
