NORTHLAND RATEPAYERS' ASSOCIATION
The annual meeting of the Northland Ratepayers' Association was held last night. Mr. F. W. Manton presided. The annual report showed that there had been an awakening of interest in the association amongst residents, 42 new members having heen enlisted. Generally the report indicated that the association bad been active during the year, and had achieved some good. The report was adopted. Among the matters discussed at the meeting were the unsatisfactory tramway service, the advisability of reserving an area of 14 acres, now part of the cemetery reserve, for recreation, and the need for a tram shelter at the bottom of JMesworth Street. All. these matters were discussed at some length, and the executive was instructed t<i go on with the proposals. Tho election of officers resulted as follows:—President.* Mr-.' 1?. W. Manton; vice-president, Mr. J. R. Lee; secretary, Mr. A, E. Lambert: auditor, Mr. C. H. Nicholls; 'oxeeuiive, .Messrs. L. A. George,. L. E. Lambert, G. Shapcott, A. Brown, A. l'uncan, 11. B. Kennerley, J. Aston, A. Stubbs, G. Gapes. (I. S. S. Kelly, Kcnard, E. E. Johns, Rigarlsford, and Captain Hargreaves. A vote of thanks was accorded to the president and the other n.cmbers of the *socutive. --, Another vote of thanks was accorded to Mr. A. J. Patenon for the help ho had rendered to the associst'/OJi by the a6tion he had taken in the Supreme Court against Karori Borough.
