CONDEMNED BY SUPREME WAR COUNCIL
Correspondents writing from the Western front emphasise the overwhelming defeats the enemy has lately suffered in aorial opera< tions and the extent to which his artillery is outclassed by that of the Allies, despite the fact that his batteries have been largely reinforced. An American^ communique states that it is now believed that the Germans do not intend to launch a major offensive on the West front and that apparently tho German concentration thora has reached its limit. A rising stir of activity is reported in Macedonia, particularly on the British sectors. It has a bearing on events in this theatre that, according to an Athens report, the Greek 1909 and 1910 classes have been called to the colours. The statement probably means that all but a very small portion of the Greek Army is now under arms. Tho British forces in Mesopotamia have made'a further advance on the Euphrates route.
