RECEPTION TO MR. GUTHRIE

BY THE ELECTORS OF OROUA. By Telegraph—Press Association. Fellding, March 19. A public congratulatory afternoon reception was given to tho Hon. D. H. Guthrie by the electors of Oroua today, on his promotion to the national Cabinet. Tho Mayor (Mr. A. M. Ongley) presided, and the Prime Minister was present. Mr. Guthrie, replying to an address of congratulation, said he would'not then go into mattors of tenure, etc., but ho would say that tho day of ranching in Now Zealand was past and tho uay of closer settlement was coming. Secondly, we havo only scratched tho surface so far as producers, but in future wo must work the land along scientific lines to get the production necessary to meet the'future needs and the Dominion's liabilities.
