INDUSTRIAL ASSOCIATION
A meeting of tlio Wellington Industrial Association was li'eld last night, Mr. I*'. J. Evans presiding. Mr; C. M'lntyre attended, to make a ploa on bcha'.l ot' tho Natives' Association for tho sclierno for the raising of funds, for the erection of a memorial hall. One of the ideas was to make a display of New Zealand goods in connection with the Easter Egg scheme, and he suggested that this would be a valuable advertisement for New Zealand manufacturers. This exhibition would be held in the Dominion Motor Vehicles' showroom's, opening on Monday nc-xt. Tho decision of the meeting was to leave the matter to individual manufacturers, and that tlte association should make no recommendation. Messrs. C. J. Ward, T. Ballmger, F. \V. Yickennan, and 11'. Mainland were appointed delegates to tho New Zealand Association Conference. Tim chairman of tho association (Mr. F. J Evans) is chairman also of the New Zealand Association. Mr. Vicltorinan spoke or. the proposal to hold an Industries Week. He said that the sul-ctimmittee had found that the best support to the scheme was offering from the people selling the goods, and not from the manufacturers, who were doing so well, that t'hey could not esecuto their orders. The proposal was to hold competitions for shop window displays, in which must be nsed ornj New Zealand-made goods. It was estimated that the cost would be £100, part of it. on the payment of salary to an organiser. It was decided that all manufacturers supplying tradesmen in Wellington be approached by circular asking for support for trio tilicme. -It was suggested that ill's display bo held in September.
