MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Messrs. R. D. Hanlon and I. Salek, Justices'of the Peace, presided over a sitting of the Magistrate's Court held yesterday, and dealt with the police cases. James Fitzroy, who was found helplessly drunk in Tinakori Road while in charge of two horses and a lorry, was £3, with the option of 14 dars' imprisonment). Evelyn Barr, convicted of being found drunk, was fined £3, in default 14 days'■imprisonment. There were two previous convictions against her. For being found drunk, John Knox was fined 10s., in the alternative . 48 hours' imprisonment, an.l for -using obscene language a fine of £5, with the option of a month's imprisonment was imposed. For. insobriety, Michael Crowley, against whom there was one previous conviction, was fined 10s., with the alternative of 48 hours' imprisonment. Five first offenders were convicted and discharged. John Gustav Blinn, a seaman, w.as charged that oil December 28 last lio did steal a watch valuo 7s. Gd., the property of Norah Holmes; a fountain pen, value 2s. Gd., the property of Nurso Williams; and a pair of scissors, value 25., and forceps, value Is. Gd., the property of the Wellington Hospital and Charitable Aid Board. He was remanded until Wednesday.
