STRIKES IN AUSTRIA
STRONG ACTION BY THE GOVERNMENT. (Rec. March 18, 8.55 p.m.) Berne, March 17. A wireless message states t ! \at the Austrian consor has suppressed news of serious strikes in several towns, inriuding Vienna. Employees at the workshops of the State railways pud tho North-Western and Northern 'lailways havo joined the movement. The Government threatened to shoot tho leaders and send the strikers to the front, imprisoning the unfit. The strike at the workshops thereupon collapsed, but several factories are still idle.—Aufi.N.Z. Cable Assn. TELEGRAPHS INTERRUPTED. Zurich, March 17. Tho "Leipsigor Neuste Nachrichten" states that a striko of enormous proportions has broken out at Budapest. Tho strikers havo interrupted the telegraphs.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
