STILL DELAYED

THE THORNDON RECLAMATION SCHEME. "It is a matter for regret that no progress has been made in connection with the reclamation works at the Thorndon ond of the harbour," said tho chairman of the Harbour Board (Mr. C. E. Daniell) at yesterdav's mcoting. "The Railway Department is either very deliberate or very nervous in coming to a decision,, and one result is that the board has valuable appliances lying idle, that might be used if the board could secure the cooperation of the Railways Department."

The Harbour Board's dredge, added Mr. Daniel!, had been lying idle all the year when it ought to have been going ahead with the Thorndon reclamation. But the Railway Department could not he brought evon to discuss the matter. He regarded this as a most unfortunate position. There had been delay also in connection with the To Aro station. Thorn was no probability of this station ever being used for railway purposes again. But tho Department was frightened about making a move, and tho derelict station continued to block the city's access to tho To Aro end of the harbour. This was a state of affairs that the citizens ought not to tolerate, and it seemed to him that the people of Wellington lacked energy to fight for their own interests.
