"TEE AUCTION BLOCK." Over and above a score of others, two smashing]? big scenes stamp "Tho Auction Block," )>y Hex Beach,' a spectacular motion picture production. The first of these is the overturning in a Pittsburg steel mill of a liugo crucible of molten metal and .the blotting ont in n flash of the lifo of n workman, whoso daughter, standing at tho door of tho pouring room, later becomes one of the chief figures of the story. Director Larry Trimblo left nothing undono to provide realism for tho mill scene. Fifteen hundred extra peoplo are in the- mob. which, led by the girl whoso father has been shrivelled to a cinder be. fore her eyes, 6torm« the gates of the plant seeking the life of tho superintendent, whoso mania for high production figures has caused the accident. _ Tho mill scene was photographed entirely by tho light of tho blast furnaces and the flaming metals. Tho second big scene, which conies well towards tho end of tho picture, picls a fighting raid on a Tenderloin gambling house, andi tho arrest of their owners and tliiir lieutenav.ts. Costly furniture is smashed, expensivo fittings aro ruined, and many a maply faoo is altered by contact with (lying fists and clubs. Sixty men, every one a two-fisted fighter, takes part in this 6cene. At its conclusion fivo of the most capablo sluggers were caught by tho camera lying face down on the floor—not for effect, but because they were licked. Hex Beacii happened to bo 'in tho studio when tho raid seeno was photographed. and Mr. Trimble had his hands l'ull keeping him r-ut nf the set. Tlox Beach loves a good fight, just a shnde more than a good frolic. To-day at the King's Theatre, opening at 2 p.m.—Advt,.
