MARINE PENSION SCHEME

Wilford states that he is aonding a cablegram to the High Commissioner to ask how the Imperial mercantile marine pension scheme deals with dependants of officers and men lost by war risks between the time of notification of the loss-and receipt of tho first pension paymont. The Minister mentioned tho case of an Auckland woman whose husband was aboard tho Kabala, reported sunk. Sho aim the children were entitled to a British pension. The Minister added:. *ow. bow is she to live .from the time ot notification of the'sinking, of tho ship until her husband's death is proved, and then till she leceives the first pension payment? Obvious y dependant must immediately bo looked after, ana there must be no delay in seeing, tliey are cared for and helped." & hoped to have a scheme for tho pajment ot pensions to dependants >nsu* °ases bv next week, without waiting for tfio High Commissioner's reply.
