The shipbuilding employers and owners of shipyards, in a joint statement after to-day's conference, with a view to showing their realisation of tho serious position of shipbuilding, state that on January 2 the Premier, in replying to their deputation announced that the various shipbuilding departments would be co-ordinated. A joint reply was sent, advocating unification of departments, and asking that a joint committee of masters and men should be consulted before action was taken affeoting the industry generally. This request has not been heeded yet. The statement concludes by expressing tho belief that ship construction would havo been speeded up if tho joint recommendations had been adopted, and offering loyal support in order to secure tho largest output of ships.— Aus.-N.Z.
