COUNT VON LUXBURG IN CHILE
Santiago, March 13. Count von Luxburg (formerly German Charge d'Affaires to Argentina) has arrived in Chile by train from the Argentine.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
[Tho following message from Buenos Aires was published in American papers in January:—"Tho Argentine Government has received a Note from the German Government protesting against tho confinement of Count von Luxburg, former Gorman Charge d , Affaires to Argentina, to a hospital, contending that this is a continuation of his detention on tho island of Martin Garcia. Germany admits tho justico of his detention on tho island as punishment for leaving Buonos Aires without permission, but argues that there is no excuso for keeping a guard at tho hospital. In reply, the Government has transmitted to Berlin certificates of physicians'stating that it is absolutely necessary to keep Von Luxburg closely guarded until he is ahlo to leave Argentina, because of his mental condition. The German Note also requests the Argentine Government to recognise as Chargo d'Affaires and interim Secretary Count Donhoff, of the German Logation, until a successor to Von Luxburg is appointed. Argentina refuses this requost, and also declines to permit Donhoff to continue to act as Secretarv of Legation, maintaining that all Legation employees lost their official status when Von Luxburg received his passports."!
