In regard to the Pacific and 'Atlantic salmon controversy, Mr. C. I. Dasont, ■ secretary of tho Wellington Acclimatisation Society, writes to say that no quinnat salmon have been liberated in the North Island to his knowledge, save some fifty received from the aquarium in tho Auckland Exhibition, which were liberated in the Hutt River. Several havo been netted in Wellington Harbour. A short sitting of the Juvenilo Court was held yesterday, with Mr. S. E. M'Carthy, S.M., on tho Bench. Two lads under 16 years of ago who were , caught discharging firearms had their .weapons confiscated. Two children whoso parents are in indigent circum--1 stances wore committed to tho Wellington Receiving Homo.
