Sydney, March 13. ■ j The Commonwealth Statistician stated that although no record for numbers of strikes was established in 1917, the year showed an onormous increase in the cost .and general offects.,qf the strikes. There were registered [altogether 444 strikes, embracing 173,970 workers, and causing a loss of 4,689,316 working days and a loss in wages of £2,641,735.-Fress Assn.
