BRITAIN'S DRINK BILL
IMITATION OF CANADA'S RE-
STRICTIONS URGED. (Rec. March 14, 1 a.m.)

In tho House of Commons during a discussion on national finance, Mr. Lief Jones Btated that the 1917 drink bill amounted to £259,000,000, and the latest figures would probably reach £270,000,000. The expenditure was overburdening tho nation. Hβ urged imitation of tho Canadian and American restrictions.
Mr. J. R. Clyncs, Parliamentary Secretary to the Food Controller, stated that the materials used in the production of beer were greatly over-estimat-ed, and wore only 3 per cent, of the nation's food.—Router.
