ST. ANDREW'S CHURCH
Members of the congregation of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Cliurch, Wellington Terrace, last evening warmly welcomed their new pastor, the Rev. S. Robertson Orr, who has filled the vacancy caused by the resignation through ill-health of the Rev. GibsonSmith about eighteen months ago. There was a large'attendance, and apologies for absence were .received from the following:—Hon. J. G. W. Aitken, M.L.C., Moderator of General Assembly; ,Rev. M. Bawden Harris, Moderator of 'Wellington Presbytery; Rev. J. M. Johnson, St. Paul's Church; Rev. J. Reed Glasson, Terrace Congregational Church ; and Rev. A. Reader, Thorndon Methodist Church.
The Rev. J. Cuuiming, of KhandalInh, who was interim moderator of St. Andrew's, presided. The welcome to the Rev. Mr. Orr was extended by Mr. R. Brown (sessions clerk), on behalf of office-beavers and congregation, and by the Rev. J. Paterson oil behalf of Wellington Presbytery. Acknowledgment, of his welcome was made in a few well-chosen words by Mr. Orr. With the welcoming of Mr. Orr, " the office-bearers and congregation also expressed its appreciation of the Rev. Mr. Cumming's services by presenting him with a cheque for his efforts. Several soiirrs were sung in the evening by Messrs. W. Wvcherley, L. Barnes and M. N. Gillmoro'.
