At a committee meeting of the Wellington Automobilo Club the secretary announced that the appeal heard m the Supreme Court between the Wellington Automobile Club and the Petone Borough Council, wherein the club appealed against the speed limit of their by-laws of 12 miles per hour, was upheld, iudgmentr being given for the club with costs. A similar appeal was heard at the same time between the Wairarapa Automobile Association anrl the Greytown Borough Council, judgment also being given in favour of tlio Wairarapa Association. It was pointed out that the Petone Borough Council had issued 78 summonses, of which IJ were brought before the Court and fined £4.and costs £1 Ss. The remaining 69 wore held in abeyance pending the decision of the Supreme Court. Furthermore the council issued upwards of 200 notices of summonses to motor-car owners in tho ellnipton district, and in the event of the club losing the appeal the committee con-. sidered there was no doubt that the Potone Borough Council would - lwvo proceeded with the summonses. Tlio committee decided, in view of the heavy expenses attached in taking this ao" tion, to make.ah appeal to motorists that had been summoned for a subscription towards the costs. •
