DJEMAL PASHA'S NARROW j ESCAPE Tho following particulars have become available regarding the part played by ,tho_ Arab forces in the operations against the Turks at tho end of last year. On November ll_ i» train iu which Djemal Pasha (tho Turkish commander) was travelling to Jerusalem was blown up with .a mine and destroyed. Djemal escaped by throwing away his Army badges and decorations, but his aide-de-camp and staff officers accompanying him were killed. Tho Turkish casualties amounted to 120, while the Arabs losfc only 7 killed and 4. wounded. Between November 14 and 18 another detachment held up tho Hedjaz lino between Amman and Maan. A double-engined, north-bound train was blown up with 60 men, and a stone bridge near El Hasa Station was destroyed and tha guard taken prisoners. _In subsequent operations two Turkish _officcra of high rank were captured.
