ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
SUICIDE BY ASPHYXIATION. i By I'eloffranh— Pnss Association. Christchurch, March 11. 'Henry R. T. Matson was found dead on Saturday evening in a house formerly occupied by him at Papanui. Evidence at the inquest showed that deceased was found lying in a room with three unlighted gas jets on. The medical evidence stated that he had sulfered severely from neurasthenia, and that this probably affected his mind. Tho verdict was that death was due to asphyxiation by coal gas,.deceased havinu- committed suicide while temporarily, insane. Mr. Matson, who was fifty-one years of age, was formerly a member of tho firm of H. Matson and Co., but retired rrom business some years ago. FALL FROM A TRAMCAR. Mrs. Holmes, of 77 Main Road, Wadcstown, was admitted to tho Wellington Hospital at 7.45 last evening, suffering from injuries to her head. It was reportedithat she had fallen from a tramcar at Island Bay. The Hospital report states that her condition is not serious.
