9 — A sharp'shook of earthquake was experienced in Masterton at 1.50 o'clock on Monday morning. The Eketahuna Bowling Club defeated Masterton B in a shield match played on Saturday. Eketahuna and Carterton will now play off for the championship. Playing for the Grady Medals on Saturday, Harp and Baskcrvillo (Cnrt'erton) defeated Dickens and Naylor (Masterton). The ■ Finance Committee- of the Masterton A. and P. Association lias been asked to snbmit a report in connection with the expenses allowed to judges officiating at the local show, the present scale being considered too low. Mushrooms have been gathered from tho fields round Masterton during the last few days. A sum of £54 10s , . was realised at tho recent Masterton show as a result of the weight-judging competition. It is expected that a fewer minihor of black-faced lambs will be bred in tho Masterton district tliis year than in former years. . The takings at the Masterton Patriotic Shop on Saturday, donations included, amounted to £149 JBs. Id. At a meeting of the General Committee of the Masterton A. and P. Association on Saturday last,. Mr. AV. E. Buick made the suggestion that the studbreeders of tho Wairarapa and surrounding districts should hold a stud ram and ewe fair about the end of January, and that it he conducted under the rules of M A. and P. Association. The suggestion was held over until next meetine; to give members an opportunity of thoroughly considering the matter. Fourteen new members were elected at a meeting of the General Committee of the Masterton A. and P. Association on Saturday last. A rink of Fcatherston bowlers—Morsbrugli, Benton, Elliott, and Henry (s.) —played a Carterton rink for the \\airarap'a championship fours on Saturday and sustained a defeat by 23 to 9.
