DRAUGHTS
* The Wellington Watersiders' Chess and Draughts Club concluded its 191718 season with a. two-round sealed handicap tourney, open to players in the 13 (.'lass. There were 24 competitors, and the handienppors (Messrs. Burgess, Connor, and Kent) were very successful in bringing about a close finish. C. O'Shea won the first prize, J. Jenkins the second prize, and M. M'Cablo the third. The best tallies were as follow:—
This contest concludes an exceptionally active season, the number .of tourneys held being larger than in any previous year, while the number of players who have taken part is also a record. A largo amount of work has fallen to the hon. secretary, Mr. W. Wright, and the members have shown their appreciation of his efforts by presenting him with a gold pendant, suitably inscribed, and depicting a small draughts board with the wellknown "first position" on it.
