STRONG ADVANCE IN PALESTINE
THREE MILES GAINED ON 18 MILES OF FRONT SUCCESSFUL BOMBING RAIDS (Rec. March 10, 5.5 p.m.) London, March 9. An official report from Palestine states:—"Between March 5 and 7 our lines, which are operating astride the Jerusalem-Nablus Road, wero steadily advanced almost unopposed. A maximum depth was attained of threo miles on a front of eighteen miles. We successfully bombed the railway and aerodrome at El Kutrani on Monday, and chopped a ton of bombs on the railway north of Maat and the enemy's encampments east of Jericho on Tuesday. The enemy blew up the Jordan Bridge at El Ghoraniyeh on Wednes-day."—Aus.-N.Z. Cablo Assn.-Reuter. SHARP FIGHTING AT ADVANCED POST London, March S. A Turkish official report states:— "On tho Palestine front, during advanced post engagements, the onwny ocucpied Djiba temporarily. Our counter-attack drove them back."— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.-Reuter.
