-The l Director of the Horticulture Division of the Department 'of Agri-» culture has received from the Apiary Instructors the following report concerning N the honey crop prospects:— , Auckland.—A late flow from ■penny-v royal lifts been on for the last week, and will give somewhat better returns than expected near Auckland. Prices for honey and wax are likely to keep
lip. .; Wellington.—The season "is now over and beekeepers have almost entirely completed tlieir extracting. Generally, the crop has only'been an average one throughout the district, despite the fact that earlier in the season the prospects were very bright indeed. ever, -prices are very high, and any. loss in crop will be balanced by good sales. ' Our first grade exported honey is bringing £160 per ton on the English market. .Clarified beeswax is bringing 2s. per lb. Dunedin.—The results of the crop are .most disappointing, and in many cases: only half the averages have been netted. -In South Canterbury they have been'favoured with good weather, with the result that their crops aro above'-normal.- 1 In'Otago and Southland practically no settled weather has been experienced this season, and, as indicated,' the crop is small. Prices ."■■. are firm,' bulk honey '9d.,' 101b. tins Bs.; each, section's 7s. 6d. to 10s. per dozen; beeswax to. Is. 9d. per lb.
