The "Hawkc's Bay Herald" of Tuesday's date says that shipping has been greatly dißorgaaißed at Napier owing to the severe storm that has been raging on the East Coast. The wharves at the port met the full force of tho storm. Nearly all the shipping moored there suffered to some extent, and the vessels have had to have extra mooring lines attached to stop them from breaking away. All of Richardson and 00/s boats are safe; the Awahou, Rum, Kahu, and Echo uro sheltering at Lottin Point. The only vessel at tho port to receive any material damage was a small trawler, which had its stern badly knocked in. The vessel which caused the most anxiety to the Harbour Board officials was the Blackball collier Ngatoro. About 6.30 a.m. her lines would not hold her. Tho strain not only broko two of the Harbour Board's 20in. coil springs, but also pulled out three mooring p : los. Most of her own lines and wires were carried a.wny, but tho vessel did not sustain any damage. Tho harbourmaster had to go down to tho wharf, and ho attached three of the big Breakwater hawsers to the vessel, besides sinking into tho middle of the road opposite WilliamH and Kettle'B store an anchor, to which tho ship's cablo was attached. By this means she was steadied. The timo taken to securely moor lier was about six hours. MESS-TABLE GOSSIP.
