FATAL RAILWAY ACCIDENT
SAFEGUARDS URGED ON THE DEPARTMENT. By Telegraph—Press Association. Te Kuiti,'March 5. At an inquest at Te Kuiti regarding the death of William M. Nash, killed at the station on FrMny last, the verdict was that death was. accidental and that no blame was attachable to anyons. A rider was added to the effect that the Railway Department be urged not to allow passenger carriages to run on the railways without a landing exit platform being provided; that the Department be urged to stop trains in the central position adjacent to the refreshment rooms; that a definite signal he given to passengers 'using the rooms before starting the tram; that engines be uncoupled for watering purposes at refreshment stations; and that the afltion of the railway cadet, Smith, who attempted to assist deceased while in difficulties, was deserving of the highest praise.
