FURTHER ADVANCE IN PALESTINE <
LITTLE OPPOSITION MET WITH (Uec. March 5, 8.10 p.m.) London, March 4. A Palestine official report states: — "We have- advanced northward to a maximum depth of three thousand yards on a frontage of twelve miles astride and westward of tho JerusalemNablus Road. There was little oppo-sition."—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assu.-Reu-lor. THE JERICBOTPERATIONS DIFMOTJLTIES'OVERCOME BY THE ARTILLERY. London, March 4. Mr. W. T. Massey, writing from British Headquarters in Palestine on February 20, after detailing the difficulties of the advance, says:—"But tho Turks are in full retreat. ' The valley of the Jordan is patrolled by us. What is probably an artillery reflord was established in the Jericho operations. The guns began firing at an altitude of 2920 feet above sea level, :md when they finished the guns in action in the Jordan Valloy, were 1100 feet below the sea level." —Ans.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
