A FARMER'S CALCULATIONS,
The following balance-sheet showing the cost of, growing wheat was handed to a Chris'tchurch reporter on Friday by a commercial man who vouched for the honesty of the farmer who prepared it. He added, iii giving the information, that many farmers complained of losses on growing wheat, and desired permission to sell in :mall lots, but few put their figures upon paper. The cost per acre was stated as follows: — £ s. d.
Total cost £7_ 1 5 The yield was 23 bushels, which at o.s. lOd. a bushel represented £6 14s. 2d., or a loss per acre of 7s. 3d.
