THIRD BOARD'S LAST SITTING

The Third Wellington Military Service' Board held its final sittings yesterday. Mr. D. M. .Vimllay presided, and the other members were Messrs. 'A. O'L. Considino and D. M'Laron. Tim appeal of Alfred Smith, dairy farmer, Brooklyn, was adjourned sine die. ■ .

J. J. Nivi'ii and Co. appealed for the exemption of Sidney Thomas Pritchard, iroiimoukler, Miramar. The case was adjourned sine die. Edward Joseph Hejily, clerk, Brooklyn, appealed on tho ground of undue hardship. Ho was, he said, one of live brothers. Three had volunteered and Lad gained commissions. One had been

awarded the Military Cross/. Two had been killed and one had had a leg amputated; Another brother was to go into camp next month. Cross, Director of Organisation. In the case of the former it. was mentioned that he was an officer of the Imperial Army and liable to be aalled for service with.it, while in the case of Captain Cross it was stated that his medical classification is C 2; v ho saw service and was wounded at Gallipoli.. Adjournments sine die were granted in each case. A month's adjournment was made in the oase of Stanley -Wright,- bread carter, Kilbirnie. Alfred Smith, dairyman, Happy | .Valley, was granted exemption sine die. l ' .The case of Charles J. Thornton, wholesale confectioner, which Lad been before a'board previously, was again adjourned, this time for reference to the Efficiency Board. • An adjournment till June was made respecting the case of William J. Joseph Dillon, slaughterman, was granted three months' exemption. H. A. Tustin, organ builder, had his leave extended till Juno 5, on account of contracts to bo completed. Richard Crabtree, slaughterman, was. exempted sine die. Three months' leave of absence was allowed Charles Stevenson, State dairy instructor, Mauaia. Alexander levy, mental hospital attendant, Avpndale, was exempted sine die.

The case of Charles Oharteris, telephone mechanic, Auckland, was adjourned for three months.
