MILITARY EQUIPMENT FOR 1918
( . v ■• DISPLAY BY MESSRS KIRKCALDIE.AND STAINS. -, At the request of the Minister in Charge of Munitions and Supplies, Messrs. ICirkcaldie • and Stains are waking an exhibition of military clothing'to bo supplied to IUIB reinforcements. The display is of special interest us a demonstration of the quality of goods obtainable from Now Zealand woollen mills and clothing manufactories. The garments consist of pocks, undershirts, underpants, working shorts, putties, cholera bolts, blauketfi, and service uniforms, including trousers, tunics, , 'pantaloons,' hats, boots, and great coats. The names of the various mills supplying the articles nre, also displayed, and that the Dominion is able to equip its soldiers with 11 complete outfit of clothing from its own resources is a fsct that should impress itf-elf ou the public; mind. A certain number of articles, such as denims, thread, buttons, etc., are not yet produced in- New Zealand, but apart from a few such details, men leaving tho Dominion this year will stand equipped in Nev Zeaiaud-made equipment throughout. It is the intention of the Department to forward the collection to the nther chief centres of the Dominion in order to give the public a better understanding of what is now thoroughly satisfactorily accomplished for New Zealand's soldiers in New Zealand.
