The Methodist Conference opened to-night. About 200 representatives were present. The Rev. W. A. Sinclair, the retiring president, delivered an address. *

The Rev. T. A. Joughin (Timarii) was inducted as president for the ensuing year. Mr. E. Dixon (Hawera) was elected vice-president, defeating Mr. J. H. Blackwell (Kaiapoi) by 104 to 57. The voting for president for 1919 resulted:—Rev. H. E. Bellhouso. (Auckland), 84; Rev. i>. Griffith (Dmir edin), 19; Rev. E. Drake (Wellington), 17; Rev. B. l< , . R'otlnvell (Blenheim), 9. The Rev. E. Drake was elected secretary for 1919.
