SHIPYARD STRIKERS IN BRITAIN
■BUILDING PROGRAMME IN ARREARS. (Rec. February 27, 10.30 p.m.) London, February 26. Mr. G. N. Barnes, a member of the War Cabinet, appealed to the shipyard workers to put their backs into the work. List month less than half the estimated number of ships bad been turned out. This month the position : had not improved. "The matter is very serious," he said, "because as reguards shipbuilding, America is failing ; us. Wβ must construct a much larger number of ships if we are to. get through the trouble of the nest few months."—Router. ANGLO-JAPANESE...CON-VENTION (Rec. February 27, 10.30 p.m.) London, February 26. Replying in tho House, of Commons to a question as to the prospects of : an Anglo-Japanese Military Convention, Mr. A. J. Balfour, Secretary of, Stato for Foreign, Affairs, said that if the question meant a convention upon reciprocal military services, euch a convention was not likely.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
