CITY APPEALS
MANY ADJOURNMENTS
The Third Wellington Military Service Board sat in Wellington yesterday. 'Mr. D. M. Findlay presided, and the other members of the board were Messrs. A. O'L. Considine and D. Al'Laren.
The Marine Department appealed for Donald Campbell, chief steward of tho Amokura: It was said that Campbell was an essential worker on tho vessel. She appeal was adjourned sine die. The Marine Department appealed for Samuel. Hooper, ' commander of the Amokura, and D, J. Grindley, light-house-keeper. Both appeals were adjourned sine die. Deoision was reserved in the case of Carl A. Berendsen, for whom' the Lahour Department appealed. Berendsen had been in camp for some time. The Commissioner of Police appealed for the following, who were granted adjournments sine die:—C. B. Sorrell, N. A. Prnssing, E. P. Burn, F. Hedgeman, F. M.- Cullen, G. Shruffer, D. J. M. Hewitt, J. Blakely, G\ Johnston, P. Swan, J. Cartiey, J.F. Grant, R, G. Wade, J. S. Robinson, and G, W. M'Lean. -•.
Hull and Co. sought exemption for 'Archie Robertson, master of the Putiki. An adjournment sine dio was agreed to. '" •
: William Martin, storekeeper and postmaster, Plimmerton, was given leavo until June 26.
The following cases of seamen were ' adjourned sine die:—H. Messenger, W. C. Soper, J. Russell, F. J. Calkin, R. Berryman, J. A. Young, A. E. Aldis, J. Saffery, B. Hurfitt, D. M. M'Diarmid, E. H. J. Boys, C. Riley, L. E. Fitzpatriok, P. Reynolds, J. Mores, H. . Hoey, J. Leach, and J. D. Gobble.. A. J. Bevan, tram conductor, who had already served Egypt, had his appeal allowed. Leave until June 26 was granted Robert - Johnson, mattress-maker. The appeal of G. Coleman Hyman, a soft goods manufacturer, engaged on Defence contracts, was adjourned for two months. An adjournment till April was grant- - cd in the case of Matthew F. .Instone, Publo Trust Office. : The appeal of Reginald-Cox, a.Petone butcher, was adjourned for a .■ month. ■ ' ' Edmond M'Cartliy, railway porter, - was given leave until the April draft goes into camp.. . . . Frederick Fredrico, baker, Knigge \ Avenue, and'B. P. Walsh,' B class men; had their appeals allowed. Geo. Eckersley, striker, Petone, had his appeal adjourned till April for the production of certain evidence. O.'N. Latimer and W. L. Holmes did not appear and their appeals were dismissed. The secretary of the Education Board appealed for E. Howe, wood-work in- ' structor, Island Bay. The case was adjourned till April.
