.Ji'or the. weight-judging competition at the Masterton Show, J. Viotor, of Masterton, judged the correct weight of the bullock, and secured the first prize of £10. Messrs. J. W. Percy and Alex. Smith divided the prizes in sheep, each having judged the correct weight. At tho annual meeting of subscriber to tlio Mastcrton Technical School, the retiring managers were re-elected, and Mr. J. M. Coradine was rc-eiected chairman. Mr. A. E. Johnston, mail clerk at the Masterton Post Office, has been transferred to Nckon. • He is being succeeded by Mr. Charles Graham, of Nelson. A very large meeting was held in the Masterton Municipal Hall on Monday evening, under the auspices of tho Protestant Political Association. Tho Rev. Howard Elliott was delayed at Napier, and could not he present. Vigorous addresses were, however, delivered by the Hon. W. Karnshaw, M.L.C., and 'the Rev. T. Miller, of Feilding, both of whom were well received. The' number of entries received for the Masterton Horticultural Show on Wednesday is 530, which is a slight decrease on the entries for the autumn show last year. It is expected that'the installation of tho automatic telephone system in Masterton will he completed in the course of a few weeks. Tho Wairarapa share of the £100.00(1 required for the Y.M.C.A. war work is £10,000. Of tin's amount £5000 lias already been subscribed. Mr. W. A. Cairns has. been appointed teacher of elocution to tho Masterton Teclinicnl School The .Military Medical Board holds a sitting at Masterton this week.
