ANNUAL MEETING

Mr. R, A. Wright, M.P., president, occupied the chair at'the annual meeting of tho "Wellington Choral Union held in St. John's Schoolroom, Dixon Street, last evening. The report (which has already appeared) was adopted with practically no discussion. The president dwelt on the pressing need that existed for increasing the number of male singers, and expressed the hope that members would induce as many as possible to join for the approaching season, which promised to be an interesting one.The following officers were elected:— Patrons, His Excellency the GovernorGeneral, lit. Hon. W. F. Massey, and Sir Robert Stout; president, Mr. 11. A. Wright; vice-presidents, Archbishop ll'edwood, Bishop Sprott, Rev. Dr. Gibb, and Mr. Geo. Shirtcliffe; conductor, Mr. Robert Parker; accompanist, Miss Dorothy Mills; committee, Messrs. W. J. Lankshear, S. G. Hamerton, W. It. Bock, C. Chambers, and T. - Goodchild; hon. librarian, Mr. J. E. Perry; hon. treasurer, Mr. W. H. Chittey; hon. solicitor, Mr. A. "W. Blair; hon. auditor, Mr. 0. D. Morpeth; hon. secretary, Mr. W. E. Caldow; hon. assistant secretary, Mr. E. A. Tanner.

The librarian (Mr. Perry) reminded members of the needless worry they gave him by not returning tho scores promptly after the last concert. Mr! Perry added that the ladies wore chiefly at fault. Several methods were suggested of collecting the scores moro promptly, but in the end the matter was left to the discretion of the librarian, whoso work generally was eulogised. Mr. Caldow (secretary) spoke of the number of ladies who did not make a return of their tickets, and stated that there were some still outstanding in connection with tho performance of ''The Messiah."

It was announced that the first rehearsal of "Tlie Bohemian Girl" would be made on March 12.

The meeting unanimously resolved that it be a recommendation to the incoming committee to arrange for the production of the. oratorio of "Elijah" as the second concert to mark Mr. Robert Parker's fortieth year of conducting in Now Zealand; the wholo qf the not proceeds to be handed to Mr. l'arker.
