The Dannevirke Meeting will be held on tho Tamaki Racecourse to-morrow. Jamieson s stables at Opaki are yearlings by Kilbroney from Simper and Sunny Lake from Arai te Uru. Engari, a winner at Wanganui on the opening day, started favourite in the Hack Welter Handicap on Saturday, but- her baekerß tfi» not a good run for their money as tho King Eufus mare was left at the The late Mr. W. J. Douglas, -whose death is reported from Hastings, -was a m wellknown breeder and owner of the re Alahanga ftud, where the imported Mountain Knight waß standing. Mr. Douglas had been in ill-health for some months paßt and his end was not unexpected. Mr. Lindsay M'Donald, of Heatherlea, Levin, is shortly shipping a brood mare to Melbourne for the autumn sales. At the same time he is sending a youngster by Gold Crest to Oaulfield, where B. Cameron will prepare him for racing. Henrv Clay, who recently changed hands for 150gns., run cwo good races at Wanganui, and by dead-heating with Dusky Evo on Saturday ho returned his new owner a good portion of his purchase money. The Stepmak mare is top weight, with 9st, "lb., and Sir Ralph, who acted as runner-lip to her in both the Te Kuiti and Hamilton Cups, is in with 7st. 101b.
