Owners who intend racing their horses at the Nelson Meeting should not« that acceptances for the first day's handicaps cloEe to-night at 8 o'clock. There will be racing at Rotorua and Dannevirke on Wednesday. Entries for the Opunake Meeting dose to-night. A reminder is given that nominations for all events at the Eangitikei Meeting close to-morrow night. B. Deeiey rode two winners at the Wanganui Trotting Meeting on Friday last. It is understood, says an exchange, that advice has been received by the officials of the Methven Racing Club that the Hon. G. W. Russell has refused to grant a permit to hold a race meeting at Methven this year. The., Wellington-owned Bobur got gallop. ped on whilst competing at Waneanui on Thursday, and, oould. not start on the second day. The defeat of Biplano in the Wangannl Guineas was wholly unexpected, but the masterly manner in which Estland disposed ot the champion leaves no doubt as to the merit of the performance. Mr. J. B. Reid has sold two Kilbroney youngsters to Mr. J. Wren, of Melbourne. Though defeated Desert Gold appears to have run up to her best form in the Caulfleld Futurity Stakes. Considering the nature of the going the time recorded was very fast. Wodgo who narrowly defeated the New Zealand representative is by The Wolkin and was runner-up In the last Epsom Handicap. He was ridden by the ox-Wellingtonian, H. R. Cairns. The timo recorded iB a record for"the race.

'After the Grand National Meeting last August, the hurdler, Art, was sent home to his owner's station in North Canterbury, whess he has 6ince enjoyed a wellearned rest. Arrangements have been completd for putting him in work again, and he will be sent down to R. Longley this week, to get ready for the winter meetings. The win scored by Biplane in the Jackson Stakes was the first credited to Mr. G. D. Greenwood in New Zealand during the present season,, place money in five other eventß completing his record, outside tho big total Biplane eecurcd/at the spring meetings in Australia. . On returning from the Wingatui Meeting the local candidates, Bose Pink and Devotion, were very sore, and will require an easy time of it for a few days, Mr. W. S. Sponce. for a number o( years assistant to the late Mr. J. P. Hart-land. haß been appointed acting-secretary to the Auckland Racing Club. Mr. B-. E. Harloy has been appointed, starter for the Waipukurau Meeting, which takes place on Easter Monday. Two high-class performers in Hymestra and Sasanof pulled up sore - after racing at Wanganui on Thursday.
