WAIRARAPA NOTES
It is stated that there were fewer evidences of "trimming" and "faking" at the Masterton show this week than has been the case for a number of years past.
The highest price obtained for a Ttomney ram at the Masterton ram fair on Thursday was 270gns. for a one-shear animal, bred by Mr. W. Perry,-of Penrose. The purchaser was Mr. W. H. Buick.
At an evening sports meeting held in connection with the Wairarapa Amateur Athletic Club on Thursday a 220 yds. handicap was won by T. Walsh, and a mile handicap by F. Kilmister.
Much enthusiasm is being displayed over a surprise packet campaign, which is now in full I'-wing in Masterton in aid of the Trenoli Comforts' Fund. A torchlight procession was held on Thursday, followed by a successful gathering in the public park. A young people's hall recently erected bv the Salvation Army in Masterton is to he officially oppned' bv Mrs. Commissioner Hoclder this afternoon.
