LICENSING COMMITTEES
. ELECTION ON MARCH 12. The election of the Wellington and Hutt Licensing Committees' lias heen lued to take'place on March 12. . Nominations close at noon on March '2 (to-morrow week), . The personnel- of the' Wellington committee isas follows:—Messrs. W. G. Biddell, S.M., Robert Fletcher, George Tiller, George Pctherick, nncl-J. W. Helycr. The cosumittco is elected for a term of three years, but threo years ago no election was held, as the nominations received represented .the number of members required. As, there is comparatively litt-lo work for this committee to do, a correspondent suggested that an arrangement should l)e arrived at which will avoid the "work "and the expense of the election. - It is calculated that the taking of a poll in the three city constituencies (Wellington North, Central, and East), which comprise the Wellington licensing district (Wellington South and Suburbs aro "dry"), will amount to over'.£2so, and the benefit likely to accrue would bo neglible.
Mr. J. W. A. Heenan lias been appointed returning officer for the purposes of tlio poll in Wellington and Mr. P. W. London.at the Hutt;
