& A lad named Alfred Lenz tripped and fell while playing in the grounds of the Masterton District High School on Wednesday, and sustained a fracture of tlio leg. The whole of the townships in the Wairarapa observed a holiday for "people's day" of tlio Mastorton Show. A case in which J. 13. Clarksnn, of Wellington, claimed : from P. It. Wilton, of Masterton, a sum of £300 for damages alleged to have becu sustained )ii a motor collision, has occupied the Magistrate's Court for tho last two days. Jndgmeut in the case is to bo delivered on Thursday. During the past couple of days the secretary of the Farmers' Union, who has had an office.on tho showground, has enrolled a number of members for the union. Four fat ewes, donated by Mr. W. Strang, of Gladstone, in aid of thu Red Cross funds, were sold at the Mnsterton Show on Tuesday, and realised a sum ot £117 19s. At a conference of delegates from local bodies, held in Masterton on Tuesday, it was decided to ask the Masterton County Council to conyene a further conference, with a view to some amicable- arrangement being' arrived at in regard to the construction of the proposed ferro-cpnerete bridge over the Waingawa River. No Booth Cup bowling matches are being, played in the Wairarapa this week. The shield matches are, however, to be played on Saturday.
