MAN-POWER PROPOSALS REJECTED
THE ENGINEERS' VOTE. (Rec. February 20, ,5.5 p.m.) London, February 19. The Amalgamated Society of Engineers has rejected tlio Government's man-power proposals by 121,017 votes to 27,470>-Reuter. RAILWAY DEFICIT IN SOUTH AFRICA (Rec. February 20, 9.25 p.m.) Cape Town, February 18. Mr. Burton (Union Minister of Railways), in introducing the Railway Budget, estimated that the year 1918-19 would end with a deficit of £968,000, to meet which the railway rates would be increased.—Reuter.
