The Waimea will now not sail for Nelson and West Coaßt until to-morrow owing to delay in discharging at Picton. The Nikau will berth at No. 6 Queen's Wharf this morning as her usual berth will be occupied by the Kennedy. Messrs. Wright, Stephenson and Co. will to-day dispatch the Kennedy for West Haven at noon. The Kaitangata- will leave Auckland tonight, with general cargo for Wellington. Sho will unload on Friday and sail for Dunedin and Blufl. Cargo for Nolson and New Plymouth will lie. received to-day by the Union Company's Corinna. As a result- of an accident, to the machinery, the Northern Company's steamer Wakatere is to be laid- up for a month

or six weeks. The breakdown occurred ou Thursday, when, just as the vessel had' gone alongside the Central Wharf, Auckland, the low-pressure stoam chest exploded, shattering the cover, and doing other damage to the chest itself. The cover of the steam chest measures about ten square feet, and is a very Bolid steel casting about two inches thick, reinforced with-thick ribß or llanges. Engineers who. examined the broken ntae.liuory stato that they cannot account Jor the breaking of 'this apparently extra strong part of the engine. An entirely new casting will have to bo made, and this work will tako about six weeks.
