DISPERSAL SALE
SOME SENSATIONAL PRICES,
The Wairarapa farmers' Co-operative Association, Ltd., Stock Depavlmcnl, report as under:—For the convenience of the public the sale was held tit the Masterton showgrounds, the facilities lor which lend themselves readily for a sale of this nature. The flock had the reputation of being second to none in the Dominion, and one that would compare favourably with any in-the world, having been established for almost a half centurv. Consequently tho complimentary remarks m.adtf by breeders from, a distance as to the constitution, bone, and the wool of'the sheep generally, especially the top end of the various classes, was not unexpected. Some sensational prices were recorded, and competition throughout was animated. The sale commenced within a few minutes of 10 o'clock, and was continued throughout without any adjournment, finishing at about 2.30 o'clock. AVo have to acknowledge the assistance of the' Ram Fair Committee of the Agricultural and Pastoral Niow, Messrs. W. D. Wateon and Peter Cooper, who put in a strenuous day, and we are also mrlchted to Messrs. Wm. Perrv and A. Clark (Featherston) for assistance at the sale, but more particularly in the work of classing and drafting the sheep at di.J light in llie morning. The sale commenced with the 2 and 3-shear flock ewes, which .sold readily, but the first few pens were reasonable in price. The 1-shear ewes followed, when Katisf'ae.torv figures were obtained, Mr. S). Broadbent being the principal purchaser at prices varying from 10 to 26 guineas. Messrs. W. Perry, J. Holdeti, S. Bolton, A. Hoggard, and G. Chatfiekl were also keen competitors for any quality' sheep. The stud Tarns followe* the ewes, and the highest, price was for a 2-shear sheep ("Corporal"), purchased by Messrs. Percy Bros., at 310 guineas, n Dominion record. Mr. W. Perry paid 210 guineas for tho 3-shear sheen "Field Marshal,'" and 150 guincn for "Lieutenant," a 2-shear sheep. Mr. D. M'Konzio.! paid 150 guineas for a 1-shear ram, and the best. prices for others wcto:-A. M'Donald, MOgns.; W. Perry, Wgns.; P. Hunter, HOgns.; C 4. Chatficld, lOOgns. (all 1-shear sheep), and 110gns. by Mr. Broadbent for a 2-shear sheep. The first ten sheep passed through the ring made the high average of 130»ns. several ram iambs, offered singly, made high prices, two being purchased by Messrs Paul Hunter and Wyley Bros., at 51 guineas each, and one by Mr. W. Perry for 30 guineas, and another at 26 guinea-,, and one bv M'Gregor Estate at 24 guineas. Those offered in pens of five sold readily, tho highest being purchased by Mr. A. Anderson at 17 guineas, the ewe lambs, all offered in pens of five, ( met keen competition, Ihe highest purchasers being Messrs. W. Perry, 36gns.; Percy Bros., 20gns.; and J. \V. Perry, 13gns. '. I The total offered and sold comprised! 780, and made tho high satisfactory average of 12}gns. throughout. Appended below is a list of the general averages ob-1 tained :— 110 1-shear ewes, 13lgns. 135 2 and 3-shear ewes, ggiis. 65 4-shear ewes, Rgns. 70 5-shear ewes, fijgns. Jisi aged ewtes. 3gns. 118 rams lambs, I.%ns. 135 ewe. lambs, B}gns. 30 1-shear rams, 52gns. 7 2-shear rami, IHgns. I 3-shear Tarns, OTlgns. Half a down Shorthorn cattle were sold at the conclusion of the sheep sale, comprising tiro enws, a couple of heifers and (wo bull calves. The two cows, "Te Auto Kellerby 13rd" and "Te Ante Pose fill." bred by Mr. W. T. Williams made t'fi and 25 guineas respectively, th° purchaser l>"ing Mr. P. Chadwick. Dannpvirke.
