ANOTHER BIG WAR CREDIT
FOR OVER 221 MILLIONS. Washington, February 15. The second largest "Urgent Deficiency Bill" in the history of the United States has been reported in the House of Representatives. It authorises the expenditure ok 1107 million dollars (£221,400,000) to cover deficiencies for the year ending Juno, 30, and includes 579 millions (£115,800,000) for the military establishment and 49 millions (£9,800,000) for the naval establishment. The Government has asked for an appropriation of 277 million dollars (about £55,250,000) for bombs for aero-planes—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. FOREIGN COMMERCE PLACED UNDER LICENCE TO ENSURE MAXIMUM SPACE FOR WAR SUPPLIES. (Rec. February 17, 5.5 p.m.) Washington, February 16. President Wilson, in a proclamation, places the entire foreign commerce of the United States under licence.
