TERMS OF THE PACT OF LONDON
LARGE TERRITORIAL CONCESSIONS

Tito text of tiio Pact of London, which determined Italy's participation in the war, has been divulged in the Chamber of Deputies. It stipulated that Italy should receive the Trentino, Istris, Dnlmatia, the Adriatic Islands, and the Gulf of Valona.
Italy agreed that if a small autonomous State was formed in Albania she would not oppose the division of Northern and Southern Albania between Montenegro, Serbia, and Greece. The Entente acquiesced'{o Italian soveleiguty in certain of the Aegean Islands,"and also to certain Italian rights in the Eastern Mediterranean, and. the light to increase Italy's African possessions if Britain and* France did likewise.
The British Government agreed to facilitate; an Italian loan in London for £o[:,0l)0,000. Cable Assn. PAPAL CLMSIfCRITICISED MOTION IN THE HOUSE OF COMMONS. London, February 15. Mr. M'Kean, in the House of Commons, submitted a motion regretting that no reasoned reply had been sent to the Pope's Peace Note, and .also iogrotting that a secret treaty had oeen concluded with Italy excluding the Hob Bee from the peace negotiations. This, he said, was demoralising to Catholic soldiers and sailors.
Lord Robert Cecil (Under-Sccretary tor Foreign Affairs) denied that the Government was committed to an atstiPapai policy. The King had iepiied to the Papal Note, expressing his appreciation of its lofty intentions, and prom-sing the closest attention. President 'Wilson had also replied. Loid Robert Cecil added that the Govarninent had merely agreed that if Italy objected io Papal representation, wo should support the objection. Only belligerents would bo entitled i"\ attend the Peace Conference.' The- motion was negatived without division. TREATY WAS RECENTLY DENIED DEPUTIES DEMAND EXPLANATIONS. (ITec. February 17j 5.5 p.m.) New York, February 16. . The "Sun's" Rome correspondent etatos that the" secret- treaty between Italy and the Entente Powers which barred the Pope's war intervention was read in Parliament.
